Trainee Program Structure
Phase 1: Introduction (1 month)
To begin with trainees are given an insight into strategy, organisation, customers and the market, products and the process model, after which they get to know every business unit through short placements. Trainees are supported by experienced mentors throughout the entire Trainee Program.
Phase 2: Placements (2 months)
In this 2-month phase trainees complete a number of 5- to 10-day placements both in the departments of their respective target area, and also in areas along the service chain in the context of cooperation between disciplines.
Phase 3: Consolidation of knowledge through deployment in the specialist section (3 months)
The focus of Phase 3 is on targeted extension/consolidation of knowledge in one specialist section of their selected target area. Emphasis is placed on a practical orientation. Trainees are given sole responsibility for performing defined tasks: this enables them to combine their systematic specialised knowledge and the knowledge they have acquired about T-Systems with practical experiences within the operational business. This phase is rounded off with internal and external professional training.
Phase 4: Visit abroad (3 months)
Under the international X-change programme of Deutsche Telekom (DTAG), in this phase trainees are given the opportunity of extending their intercultural skills and developing their own network within the Group through a three-month deployment abroad in one of the DTAG business areas. A very good knowledge of English is required for this.
Phase 5: Project assignment (3 months)
The project assignment forms the integration phase of the Trainee Program, so to speak. Trainees take on a role for which they bear sole responsibility, either within a selected project in their target area or in one of the specialist sections of the service chain, and are thus able to contribute to achieving the defined milestones within the scope of the project. This enables the trainees to contribute and apply the knowledge they have acquired and also the skills and experiences they have developed during the previous phases. In this phase their skills in project management methodology are also consolidated.
