Improving program codes and processes

March 02, 2010

The organisational separation of development and testing decisively improves software quality. This reduces the risk of faulty operation and down-times.
Improving program codes and processes
Software is never entirely free of errors. Small logical errors in the complex flows of a program code can, in the worst case, trigger a chain reaction and seriously disrupt business processes.
If the software is first tested by external experts, this risk is minimised. T-Systems has comprehensive know-how in the testing, without presumption, of whole business processes for all thinkable cases of use. According to Serge Baumberger, Head of the T-Systems Test Factory, "Using the latest test methods, our certified specialists test far more precisely than a company could do it itself."
Unified test strategies reduce costs
And the costs? Here, T-Systems relies on standardised methods. For the company, this leads to savings of up to 70 percent compared with conventional test methods. Taking SAP systems for industrial manufacture as an example, T-Systems tests these up to 90 percent automatically. A special test framework detects software errors directly on the customer's IT infrastructure. "We collaborate closely with the developers of the program to be tested", explained Serge Baumberger. "To minimise the risk of costly failures or damage to the customer's image, we press for the necessary patches."
