Air rescue out of the clouds
May 31, 2010
The Swiss air rescue service Rega has extended the term of its contract with the Telekom subsidiary ahead of time, and now relies on dynamic SAP operations from T-Systems.

SAP applications form the basis for the use of personnel, helicopters and jets for the Swiss air rescue service. In order to be able benefit from rapid modifications to SAP capacities around the clock, Rega relies on the product Dynamic Services for SAP from T-Systems.
“T-Systems makes resources available to us as needed and within the shortest time, and we pay only for the services we have actually used,” says François Hochstrasser, CIO at Rega. The SAP services run in T-Systems’ Swiss computing centres at Zollikofen and Langenthal. 24-hour operation is guaranteed 365 days a year – because Rega is permanently in use in order to be able to help injured people quickly and without complications from the air. The redundant operation guarantees the necessary system stability.
10,000 missions a year
Rega is the independent, non-profit making air rescue foundation in Switzerland, with its headquarters at Zürich-Kloten Airport. With its twelf helicopter bases it has been reliant on SAP services from T-Systems since 2003. The organisation accomplishes around 10,000 rescue missions by helicopter a year for accidents and illnesses of all kinds. Its area of operations also includes repatriating patients to Switzerland from abroad
